Supports Education and Professional Development

Wairarapa DHB actively supports education and professional development. Colleagues in the neighbouring DHBs in Hutt Valley, Wellington and Palmerston North provide tertiary and visiting health services, and are actively supportive during referral or transfer of patients. There are opportunities for joint clinical involvement in audit, clinics and teaching. Likewise health support roles are encouraged to look beyond regional boundaries, to work with and learn from the experiences of others.

Smokefree Workplace

Wairarapa DHB is protecting and promoting the health of our staff and community by being smokefree and adhering to the Smokefree Environments Act 1991.

Influenza Vaccinations

All DHB staff are offered an on-site annual influenza vaccination at no cost to themselves, recognising the importance of protecting not only staff from illness, but also the vulnerable people with whom we interact, like our families, our patients and clients.

Health Insurance

Wairarapa DHB employees have automatic entitlement to membership to Accuro Health Insurance who is the preferred supplier of health and well-being insurance products. The cost of membership to a new employee is (information to be updated early 2019).


The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is part of the DHB's Health, Safety and Wellness strategy. The EAP helps our employees to deal with personal and work issues. The DHB is offering this because it appreciates the contribution we all make and realises that on occasion people can benefit from professional guidance.

Social Club

The Wairarapa DHB has an active social club and the committee aims to provide a range of activities throughout the year.  This is a fantastic way to meet others that work across many services within the hospital, lots of great events, discounted tickets, raffles, and more.
