This is a community based position placed with the Wairarapa DHB mental health service which is part of the wider Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability (MHAID) Service. The 3DHB Service has over 1400 employees and annual revenue of $135m.

MHAIDS spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB's -and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAID services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual disability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

We are seeking a consultant psychiatrist, with a special interest in psychogeriatrics, and who is interested in working collaboratively with a comprehensive MDT and a range of community based mental health service providers.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate proven clinical leadership, the ability to engage with service planning and development and quality processes. You will be an integral member of the clinical team and provide a high level of expertise and experience.

The MHAID Service is committed to clinical excellence in all disciplines. Senior medical staff are expected to take part in clinical audit and peer review to ensure quality clinical care is provided.

This is a permanent part or full time position, and is located at Wairarapa DHB, and will work between 64 to 80 hours per fortnight. Actual hours to be agreed upon appointment, and includes a requirement to participate on the after hours on call crisis service.
